Thematic Training | The New European Media Act

The exchange will bring clarity on the new Regulation, aimed at proposing a “new set of rules to protect media pluralism and independence in the EU”, and contributing to the overall EU initiative on “A new push for European Democracy”.
Launched on 16 September 2022, the New Media Act has sparked controversy among CSOs and democracy actors and triggered a discussion on the transparency of the process and the ambition of the regulation to really bring reforms in the sector.
During the thematic training, we will discuss the structure of the proposal, its shortcomings, and recommendations on the way forward. Guest speakers and input delivery by:
- Carolin Johnson, Policy and Research Coordinator, European Partnership for Democracy (EPD)
- Fernando Hortal Foronda, Digital Policy Officer, European Partnership for Democracy (EPD)
You can download the New European Media Act Regulation and recommendations HERE.
Deadline for registrations: Friday, 21 October 2022
This event is organised by ENoP as part of its current EU co-funded project “Strengthening ENoP as Actor in Support of Democratic and Pluralistic Societies”.
